Furnace Mountain Vineyard? 8 Chains North? “LoCo” Vino? Col. White? What are all these enigmatic names and why are they relevant? Well, they are probably only relevant to a very few!

8 Chains North is Loudoun’s newest winery. It is named after a site where the winery’s vineyard is planted near Waterford. During the Civil War, Confederate engineers made a river crossing on the winery’s site that was 1.8 chains (one chain equals 66 feet) upriver of one of Col. White’s river fields in Leesburg. 8 Chains North opened July 3.

Hours: Open and operating Saturdays and Sundays from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm.
